MATCH REPORT ROUND 5

7 May 2018 by Benjamin Charles

A BIG thank you to Danny Whittaker and the crew from Mernda for the hospitality and the gracious speech after the game – All class

On paper and form, it looked like the Bloods would suffer a big loss against second placed Mernda in our Round 5 clash – and this rang true when Mernda piled on 5 goals to nothing in the first quarter.

Thereafter however, it was much more accountable Lalor outfit which took the field, slowing Mernda’s scoring and creating more opportunities of our own. Whilst in the end, the first quarter deficit proved too hard to overcome, going down by 5 points at the final siren – it was a strong and impressive performance by Lalor’s senior outfit.

For the second week in a row, the team finished much stronger than their opposition, proving that the hard work on the training track is paying off. If the team can start games the way they finish – a win isn’t far away!

Unfortunately, it was a different story for our undermanned reserves side who were outclassed by Mernda to the tune of 88 points – keep sticking fat fella’s – the senior boys have shown that hard work on the training track can pay off- and this will ring true for the reserves if you can improve in this area!

This week we take on our old Div 2 foe Panton Hill at Home in what will be another tough assignment. We also host our first presidents luncheon for the year with guest NICK MAXWELL replacing Dane Swan at short notice… Thanks Maxy.

Attending this event as part of their membership package will be all of our Red & White Knight members and BLOODSMEN player sponsors …..thank you one again for all of the support you give our Club – we hope you enjoy the day!
