GRAND FINAL FLASHBACK

Flashback Friday – We wind back the clock to the 2007 premiership and remember the last time the BLOODS held up the senior silverwear.

Storming home from 5th spot and upsetting the much fancied Macleod, another BLOODS fairytale was written

Led by Life Member and Club Captain, Steve “Soppa” Marshall, he and a team of young leaders like Jason Christie, Terrence Upoko and Kane “Arnie” Toronis, followed coach Mark Pederson (and old man Captain Dash) into the finals with belief and hope that anything was possible.

Generational names helped write their own piece of history like their fathers before them… Dean Conlin, Brent Bailey and Todd Hughes were amongst a group of junior players including soon to be Aussie boxing champ Joel Shackleton and VFL star Nathan Thomas.

Nick Mafilovski took the Best on ground honours that day and a fresh faced, future captain of the club Shannon Smith would boot 7 goals in his first senior grand final as an 18 year old making it a very memorable day and one he was able to legally celebrate…!

Memories like these will continue to inspire the new faces and generations, it may motivate some familiar ones too with THE BLOODS next chapter looking bright, you can be certain that this won’t be the last time this proud club will take over the podium.
